Homewares by Sage and Clare

Both shopaholics and globe trekkers, it’s easy to see how a fateful Christmas in India captivated their hearts. Taken in by the energetic streets, riotous colours and artisanal products, Sage and Clare was born. Husband and wife duo, Chris and Phoebe, had always been passionate about colour, texture and the sense that some objects have real heart.

This became the crux of Sage and Clare and they started it with the aim of offering fellow interior lovers a place where they could find global treasures that are handmade, bohemian, soulful and eclectic.

Serious about ethical practices, Phoebe and Chris spend months of every year overseas working side-by-side with weavers, block printers, and screen printers (to name a few!) to bring Sage and Clare designs to life.

“There is a mutual learning that occurs between us and our artisans – they teach us their lifelong trade and we teach them how these traditional techniques can also lend themselves to modern design. It’s the perfect match!”

Homewares by Figgoscope – MARTA FIGUEIREDO

“In the beautiful Portuguese countryside, there are still a lot of small decade-old factories and workshops that have resisted the tide of globalisation. In recent times, however, many young local and international designers have decided to explore this almost extinct world of tireless workmanship and locally-sourced materials; a world in which the beauty of an object is supported by its functionality perfected over centuries.

In curating Figgoscope’s collection, design and aesthetics play the key role, but we always pay a lot of attention to even further details: How was the product made? How will it look after a few years? Will it look as good in real life as in the picture?

That is why Figgoscope Curates decided to collaborate with designers and companies who use old traditions and craft techniques as a medium for their endeavour into interior design. Their products are of the best quality and have the most contemporary and versatile design qualities. But they also have a story; they are a meaningful addition to a fast-paced urban life. We see them as anchors connecting our lives with the long tradition of adorning our everyday spaces, of transitioning from the mundane to the timeless.”
